Visiting Scoop n Roll is always a yummy experience. After watching your ice cream being prepared, you get to devour the awesome creation. I love the fun and friendly service and the intense tasting ice cream flavours. They use high quality ingredients in their ice cream to get intense flavours. I've tried a variety of different flavour combinations, as this isn't my first ice cream rodeo, but during this visit, we ordered the following: *Green tea ice cream with Oreo and mint chocolate chip *Strawberry ice cream with Reese's and rainbow sprinkles *Coconut ice cream with chocolate chips and almonds Seriously, if you haven't had this yet, it's a must try! The line ups can get pretty ridiculous. Last year, I ordered the ice cream, left my name and number, received a call an hour and a half later for pick up. That's one option. We lucked out this time, went during a day that wasn't as ideal and had the truck all to ourselves. Yes! Fist pump! Woohoo! Yumalicious! Tip - go during off-peak hours or a not so pleasant day. The weather wasn't the most favourable, so we had the truck all to ourselves. Excellent service! *strawberry ice cream with Reese's and rainbow sprinkles

Located at 14425 Miller Boulevard Edmonton, AB T5Y 0L4 Hong Huong was recommended to us by a non-Asian friends. I feel it should be noted because, lets be honest, I'd ask an Italian where to eat pasta and an East Indian where they'd recommend to eat Indian food. Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical of the recommendation. It also didn't help that the restaurant was filled with non-Asian people when we walked in. Don't even because I know you would be thinking the same. 🤣🤣🤣 We were greeted and asked to sit anywhere we'd prefer. We asked what was authentic and what she would recommend. She helped us make excellent choices. The food was hot and delicious. Everything tasted very authentic and the iced coffee was strong and sweet; exactly how it should be! The service was amazing! I highly recommend this place. The food was legit and very tasty. Amazingly yumalicious! Beef Satay Soup Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef and pork pho) Iced Vietnamese Coffee
I'll be honest and say that I'm not a serious ramen fan. Possibly because I haven't found great ramen yet? Kazoku Ramen was recommended, so I had to try it. It's always hard to write a negative review, but it's going to have to happen. The service was excellent and they served us the little grinding bowls of seasame to grind ourselves and add to our ramen. It's a nice interactive and fun touch to the experience. However, the ramen was extremely salty, the sesame we grinded didn't really do anything to enhance the taste after being added to the broth, the chicken karaage looked old and possibly fried again to reheat, the shrimp tempura was crispy on the outside and rubbery on the inside. It all fell short for me. It's sad to say, but I won't be visiting again.
The restaurant logo is extremely adorable though. Located at 1045 7th Ave Invermere, BC V0A 1K0 Gerry's Gelati Cafe is a very well known joint in Invermere. It's got a variety of gelato and several sorbets as well. I've been so many times, that I have been recognized. It's not common, as hundreds of people visit throughout a day durning the summer. They run out of gelato pretty much every day. Only certain flavors can be found near the end of the day depending on how much of each flavour was made during the day. Some gelato flvours include hazelnut, chocolate brownie, tiramisu, espresso, cookies and cream, cookie dough, vanilla, fruit looos, and bubblegum. Some sorbet flavours include raspberry, coconut, lime, lemon, strawberry banana, and Gerry berry. I've tried most of the flavours, as they do allow you to taste them. But my top choices are chocolate hazelnut and mocha served on a home made waffle cone. That's right! Go big or go home. It's yumalicious at a whole different level. Having a licking good time!😋
Located at 388 Country Hills Blvd NE, #400 Calgary, AB T3K 5J6 Dim Sum. It's basically an Asian tapas style brunch. If you haven't had dim sum, then you're missing out on a pretty stellar addition to the food scene. I love to share food. Why, you may ask? Well, that way you can try all the different offerings an establishment offers, without actually having to have been there 5 times to order the 5 things you wanted to try. Go there with 4 other friends and go for it, all in one sitting. Just seems to make sense. Well, dim sum makes it even easier for you. It's makes all the dishes smaller and for sharing. That way you can choose to eat a variety of different items to sample throughout the one meal. Easiest way is to post the pictures and explain them. The reason I enjoy this dim sum restaurant the best, is because I enjoy watching the chefs prepare the snack sized dishes through the glass encased kitchen. The level of skill that goes into preparing these items are so amazingly detailed, that you have to remember to eat and not just stare. Enjoy! Here are a couple of essentials at any Dim Sum joint. The top of shrimp rice roll and the other is sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. shiu Mai is also another essential. A pork dumpling, steamed to perfection and topped with flying fish roe for garnish. They have perfected an essential. Here is what they call a turnip cake, but they've taken it and cut it into cubes, dusted it with a starch and fried it. Then they quickly pan fried it with XO sauce. Heaven! Lol Steamed egg custard buns. Should definitely be eaten hot. A creamy custard oozes out when you open this bun. Do NOT bite right into it. Best to just rip it open, to allow some steam out and enjoy the beautiful dripping custard and then dive in for a lick or bite. Here we have the water chestnut cake. It's not a dessert that is made as often, it's only available at this joint on the weekends. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I personally love it. It's water chestnuts mixed into a rice cake mixture and sweetened. Then it's steamed until solid and then pan fried to create a slight crust on the outside. Yumalicious!! The ever feared chicken feet in garlic, black bean sauce. I love, love, love it! I can see how some would find it intimidating, but it's a serious labor of love. These guys are cooked in a lovely sauce then steamed to perfection. A must try! Here's a dish that they're known for. Soup dumplings. A small bite of paradise. The filling is made with some serious care. It's got specks of soup solidified soup consome inside the filling. When wrapped around with a paper thin dumpling dough and steamed, the soup specks melt and create a dumpling swimming in soup, trapped inside the wrapper. There's a very delicate way to eat these precious dumplings. You have to use a soup spoon to rest the dumpling on after carefully transferring the dumpling with your chopsticks. You may dip it into a red vinegar and ginger sauce before eating it. It's an option. Careful! It's extremely hot. So, don't just shove it in your mouth. What I do, is nip the dumpling wrapper with my teeth and pour the soup out onto the spoon. I eat the dumpling and wash it down with the soup. Another way is to suck the soup out before eating the dumpling. Either way, no judgement is placed upon you because it's that good and should be enjoyed in your own way!
Spent and evening hanging with my girls in the YYC. Where do we choose to fill our tummies? That's right, the infamous Rodney's Oyster House. We walked into a decor that helps set the tone immediately. The restaurant was adorned with a centre piece of netting and draped from the ceiling with a lot of white planks along the bar to being served menus on wooden planks. It was all very thoughtfully and artistically presented. That's just the atmosphere going into the place. Once we sat down, we were greeted by a friendly and happy waitress, who came with a large, glass flask of water for us to self ourselves. We started by ordering the Lighthouse Lemonade and Walter's Caesar for drinks. For the Lighthouse Lemonade to had the choice of vodka or gin and for the Caesars, you had a choice of Clamato or Walter's (an all natural Clamato). The lemonade was came garnished with lemon slices and was crisp and refreshing. The Caesar came garnished with a jumbo cocktail shrimp, lime and lemon slice, and a pickled bean. My absolutely fave! For starters, we started with a dozen variety of their east coast oysters. They came with a platter of possible additions for your oysters. There were a choice of your classic tabasscos, mignonette (vinegar base and shallots), and cocktail sauce to a tamarin mixer and scotch bonnet pepper sauce. For me, I'm more of a straight up kinda girl. No sauce necessary. But I did try their cocktail sauce and tasted most of the others. I didn't even attempt the scotch bonnet pepper sauce. Thanks though. The oysters were amazing! We all had our favorited, but agreed that they were all very delicious and we would have done it all over again if we didn't order a feast to follow. We haven't even finished with appetizers yet. The oysters were just a jumping off point. We then moved on to a bowl of clam chowder each. Yup, that's right...each! It was everything a clam chowder should be, creamy, tasty, and full of clams! Need I say more? We couldn't decide which mains to get, so we got a bunch to share. One member of our party ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta. It was presented beautifully. The rest of us shared the steamed clams, lobster roll, smoked fish platter, and the crab cakes. Clams were salty and scrumptious. We all agreed the lobster roll could have been dressed to be a bit more creamier, could be a personal preference? It was served with a perfectly dressed salad and crispy seasoned fries. The smoked fish platter was presented beautifully with smoked salmon curled into a rose, and perfectly smoked and candied fishes all paired with great choices of sauces. We all agreed that the only item that fell a bit short was the pickled mussels. They were mushy and left little to be desired. The rest was pretty amazing. The crab cakes were probably one of the best I've had. It was perfectly dressed with a apple and cabbage slaw. An absolute must! Dessert was absolutely not possible during this visit. It will have to be reviewed in the next one. If you love fresh oysters and seafood of all kinds, Rodney's Oyster House at any location is your best bet! There was some seriously yumalicious food! The decor lends for a lovely atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Even the menus were served on wooden planks. A crisp and refreshing Lighthouse Lemonade. Walter's Caesar and a cup of clam chowder. Yes, that was the cup version. Can you see the jumbo cocktail shrimp garnishing my casear? Fresh oysters, steamed clams, lobster roll, crab cakes, shrimp and scallop pasta. All yumalicious!
For all you Ramen lovers, there's a brand new ramen joint in town. Tokiwa Ramen is nestled in the middle of the Brewery District. There's ample parking, music blaring in the parking lot, and loads of restaurants and shops. I was able grab a mini loaf of bread from Cobs before I grabbed ramen. My girl, Tran, and I were the first ones to arrive, as they open at 11am. We were greeted with a traditional Japanese welcome, where all the staff holler a traditional Japanese greeting at us as we walked in. Our smiley and friendly waitress allowed us to pick where we'd like to sit, since we were their first customers. We were presented with a menu and given a minute before she returned for our order. My girl went with the Goma Goma ramen and an order of their inhouse gyozas, while I went with the traditional Tonkatsu and an order of their Namasa salad. All the items were served quickly. The traditional Tonkatsu had a rich pork broth while the Goma Goma had a rich and creamy pork broth. The ramen was a perfect chewiness and the pork charsu was tender, melt in your moth, and flavorful. The gyoza were small, but packed with taste. My girl, felt the Namasa salad was a bit more tart than it needed to be, while I felt it was a great balance for my taste buds. Overall, a lovely experience and I would definitely recommend it! Hope to see you all there at some point for more yumalicious ramen! Next, I'm going to try their Black Garlic ramen 😋! A lovely modern exterior and interior design. Chic and comfy setting. A simple and straightforward menu. Love it! Top left corner - inhouse made Gyoza
Top right corner - traditional Tonkatsu Bottom right corner - Namasa Salad Bottom left corner - Goma Goma Located on 9219 34 Avenue Edmonton, AB T6E 5T5 The food was totally yumalicious. There's only the one dish that I'd advise to stay away from and it's the beef and tendon soup. We were advised to sprinkle salt and pepper into the soup. I'll have to say that no amount of salt nor pepper was really helping the situation. |
